Fabric is one source of style points: pattern pieces add their own, so pair the top fabric with a matching skirt. Accessories add no tags.

How do I pick fabric for a Dressmaker commission?

Each commission asks for style points, such as Romantic and Flowers. Every fabric carries its own tag values, so the easiest points come from the cloth itself. Choose the fabric with the highest total for the asked tags that your purse covers, buy whole metres plus a small buffer, then use the pattern pieces and accessories to close any gap.

Questions players ask

+Which fabric should I use for a Romantic commission?

Pick Romantic in the finder and set your rank: it lists the fabrics with the highest Romantic value you can buy. Peony Linen (20/m) and Ebony and Gold Floral Cotton (30/m, from the start) both carry Romantic 50, as much as the pricier Silks such as Cool Blush Silk.

+Where do I see a commission's style tags?

In the sketchbook for the job, next to the fabric amount. Copy those tags into the finder. Some commissions ask for two or three tags at once; the finder adds the values together.

+Is fabric the only source of style points?

No. Pattern pieces (bodice, sleeves, skirt, collar) add their own tags. Use fabric to cover most of the target, then top up with a matching pattern. Players report accessories add no tags, so roses will not lift the Flowers bar.

+Why does the finder say no fabric matches?

Your rank may not unlock any fabric with that tag yet, or the budget is lower than the metres times the price. Raise one, or try a related tag.

+How are the tag values checked?

They come from two independent player databases that agree on every fabric for Build 446 (checked Oct 21, 2026). We show the four strongest tags per fabric, which covers what commissions ask for.

Sources. Fabric tag values cross-checked between dresswiki (dressmakerwiki.com) and Dressmaker Tools (dressmaker-tools.com) for Build 446 on Oct 21, 2026.
