Accessories and trim in Dressmaker
Bows, brooches, lace and beads: how to place them fast, remove them, and use them for two of the rarest achievements.

How do accessories and trim work in Dressmaker?
After sewing, open the accessories tab to place bows, buttons, brooches, appliqué and lace or beaded trim anywhere on the dress. Hold Shift to mirror a placement on the other side, and Shift-click to duplicate. To remove an accessory, right-click the accessories tab (L2 on Steam Deck). Accessories are decoration: they do not add tags, so they will not fix a Flowers or Romantic bar, but they do add to the dress's cost. Trim goes on about 1.7 m at a time; Build 443 added Fast Trim Placement and a duplicate-trim button. Two rare achievements live here: Trim and Proper (more than 50 m of trim on one dress, 4.4% of players) and Harder than it Seams (300+ accessories on one dress, 6.6%).

- Shift mirrors trim and accessories across the dress.

Trim and Proper: 50 m of trim
- Pick a long dress with many seams (a tiered or ballgown skirt helps).
- Turn on Fast Trim Placement in settings (Build 443).
- Lay trim along every seam and hem; each placement is about 1.7 m.
- Use the duplicate-trim button for repeated rows.
- Aim for about 51 m, then finish the dress: the achievement triggers on completion.
Harder than it Seams: 300 accessories
Put 300 or more accessories on one dress. Cheap small items (buttons, small bows) keep the cost down; Shift-click duplication makes it quick. Combine it with Opulence and Excess (5,000+ coins on one successful dress) if you have money to burn: brooches cost 20 to 40 coins each (Amethyst 40, Barbara 20, Brilliant White Diamond 20, Jade Swirl 40, per a player guide).

+Is there a counter for 5,000 coins spent?
No in-game meter. Add up fabric and accessory costs yourself, or use the calculator.
