How to get 100% quality in Dressmaker
Quality is three habits: cut on the grain, fit the mannequin, sew slowly on curves.

How do you get 100% quality in Dressmaker?
Quality comes from three things: grain, fit and sewing. Players estimate the weighting as about 30% grain, 20% fit and 50% sewing, though the developers have not confirmed it. For grain, keep every pattern piece's arrow parallel to the weave so each piece shows Grain Quality 100%. For fit, check the dress on the mannequin, which is set to the client's measurements. For sewing, hold Space and steer with A and D, and drop the speed with S before every curve so the needle stays on the seam line. One full-quality dress unlocks 99 Problems But A Stitch Ain't One, which about 78% of players have. One Prudence commission wants an uncomfortable dress under 80% quality, so quality is not always the goal.
- Estimate: 30% grain, 20% fit, 50% sewing (unconfirmed)
- 100% quality achievement: 78.3% of players
- One Prudence order needs under 80%
1. Grain: every piece at 100%

- Rotate with the scroll wheel until the arrow runs with the weave.
- Build 410 stopped the wheel rotating panels when the cursor is over the inventory, so scroll on the cloth.
- Re-cut a bad piece: drag it back onto the cloth area, or use the seam ripper if it is already sewn.
2. Fit: trust the mannequin
The mannequin is set to the client's measurements, and the pieces are drafted to fit. Check the preview before you sew; a piece placed on the wrong spot of the mannequin shows a hover hint since Build 410. Off-rack dresses have no sizing, so fit only matters for commissions.
3. Sewing: slow down

- Start at a low speed with S.
- Hold Space and steer with A and D, keeping the needle on the dotted line.
- Ease off before curves and corners; most lost points are on curves.
- Sewing assist can veer; click the fabric to take over.
Build 443 lets you turn off the red outline and reduce animation in settings if the screen feels busy while sewing.
Estimate your quality
The calculator page has a small quality estimator using the community 30/20/50 split. Treat it as a guide, not the game's real formula.
Questions players ask
+Why is my Edith opera dress stuck at 90%?
Players report this on one Edith commission and there is no confirmed fix yet. Check every panel shows 100% grain and that no seam was skipped, then re-sew the roughest seam.
+How do I make a dress under 80% quality?
Sew deliberately badly or cut off-grain. Prudence's uncomfortable-dress commission asks for it.
+Does thread colour affect quality?
No effect on quality is reported; thread colour became changeable in Build 410 for looks.
+Does quality change the price?
Players believe off-rack offers scale with quality. It is not confirmed by the developers.
